20:16 MoonWalker Shoes

Look guys. We want you to put through out everything you know about sneakers. Everything about the upper and whatever air cushion it may have in between the mid and outsole, cos’ the future calls for levitating footwear. Yep. You heard that right levitating. Well, actually, it is kind of levitating, except your feet will still be planted firmly to ground, but somewhere in between the mid and outsole, the 20:16 MoonWalker Shoes (see? even the name sounds like the future) has two sets of repelling magnets placed facing each other to let you feel as if you are walking on moon where gravitational force are almost zero – hence the name, MoonWalker.

Its creator, Moonshine Crea, said the shoes will leave you “light on your feet and happy as an astronaut.” Though we are not sure if astronauts are actually happy people, other than seeing their mega paychecks at the end of the tour. Anyways, I am sure bouncing on the surface of the lunar planet like an elated bunny will be fun and so, if the MoonWalker can replicate that sensation here on Earth, which has a gravitational pull of 9.8 m/s, then it will be something to behold – something actually worthy of being called futuristic fashion.

Anywho, the look is not for everyone. But we noted that the result of adding magnets into the shoes gives this pair of kicks an unusually thick midsole, which adds to the futuristic flair. Looking past the gimmick, the shoes is in itself designed to look futuristic with a minimalistic approach, void of laces and comes in the mandatory future color: gray. It boasts an outer layer of synthetic fabric, padded non-slip tongue, DuPont Tyvek synthetic polyethylene (the same material used by NASA on some space station modules) lined the interior and finally, rounding up with memory foam sole.

Two models are being offered over at Indiegogo: a standard model and one with a customizable e-ink display-equipped midsole where a companion app is use to display your custom message on the side of the shoe. Early birds can pre-order a pair for as low as $59 for the standard model or $89 for the e-ink model. There’s a slight catch here though, delivery is in the future, or sometime in September 2016, to be precise. Head past the break for the product pitch video.
