we choose to put the LEGO reference number for this LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler in the post title so that right off the bat, you will not confuse it with the not-so-impressive (and some said, uglier) 10144 UCS model that has been circulating for years now. unlike the previous iteration, the 75059 LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler is explicitly noted as an UCS set (you won’t miss the ‘gold’ label) and has a sticker that befits its UCS status. expect it to set you back at $299.99 (ouch!) when it hit the shelves in May, but rest assure it has the details and size to match the sticker. for starter, it has a cool 3,296 pieces, which basically means there are more details to drool over and tinker with, though it is worthy to note that this set comes with seven minifigures as opposed to eleven with the 2005 set.

the minifigs comprise of Luke Skywalker, Owen Lars, C-3PO and four Jawas, plus a slew of droids, including R2-D2, R2 unit, R1 series droid, Gonk droid, R5-D4 and Treadwell Droid, enough for some serious droid orgy. also, you can expect loads of delightful features (as far as ‘official’ set is concerned, that is) including steerable tracks, lowering front ramp, working cranes, opening side flaps, opening hatch for access the ‘cargos’, attachable handles for lifting boxes, removable top, speeder bike and a detailed interior covering the engine bay, storage bay, the mandatory cockpit and more. all told the 75059 LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler measures over 24 cm (9″) tall, 48 cm (18″) long and 16 cm (6″) across. by comparison, it is not a lot bigger than the previous offering, but has over 2x more parts count, which could only mean one thing: awesome details.
