2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV

It is good know that automobile marques other than luxury brand names are not shy in injecting more omph into family-orientated rides. The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, particularly the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, is one such shiny example. Buried under the dual vented bonnet is an all-aluminum 2.9L bi-turbo V6 engine, the most powerful yet from the Italian marque, producing 505 horsepower and generating a flat torque curve with 443 lb-ft (600 Nm!) of torque that enables this screaming Italian family mover to rocket from zero to sixty miles an hour (97 km/h) in mere 3.9 seconds and sending it on its way to a top speed of 177 miles an hour (285 km/h) while staying sure-footed regardless of the curves ahead, thanks to the Q4 all-wheel-drive system.

The ‘lesser’ Stelvio and Stelvio Ti aren’t shy too, with the duo driven by an all-aluminum 2L direct-injection turbo motor pumping out 280 horses and 306 lb-ft (415 Nm) of torque that pushes it to make 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in around 5.4 seconds before finally hitting its terminal speed of 144 mph (232 km/h). Not bad at all. Not bad at all. Back to the Quadrifoglio, it gets all the bell and whistle, including a four-mode Alfa DNA Pro selector with Race mode, torque vectoring differential, Quadrifoglio-tuned adaptive suspension, Quadrifoglio instrument cluster with speedometer that tops out at 200 mph, cylinder deactivation, and rounding up with a well appointed cabin with a mix of leather, Alcantara and accented stitching, and a 900-watt, 14-speaker sound system from Harman Kardon that, together with the car’s performance, will keep you glued inside the SUV.

It is also worthy to mention that Stelvio is quite a weight saver too, attributed by the generous amount of aluminum components and of course, a host of safety features. The press release is super long, which serve to reinforce Alfa Romeo’s resolution on letting you know what the Stelvio has to offer. On paper, we are convinced and images just left us drooling.
