this year marks BMW Motorsport’s return to the DTM after nearly a 20-year hiatus and the results as far as the race is concerned, is remarkable. the team managed to bag three wins: the driver’s title, team standing and the manufacturer title and the Munich-based automaker is celebrating this achievement with a limited edition M3, aptly dubbed as BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition. costing €99,000 (roughly US$129,000), the Champion Edition has everything the M3 has along with a bunch of cosmetic tweaks, mimicking the winning team’s ride driven by Canadian bloke Bruno Spengler. obvious aesthetics on the exterior include an exclusive Frozen Black metallic paint job, matt black wheels, carbon flaps and gurney, BMW M stripe across its CFRP roof and boot lid and decals on the front fender and rear side windows complete the race car look.
on the inside, expect to find door sill strips in Spengler’s helmet design, the champion’s signature and the car’s serial number on the dashboard carbon fiber trim, Alcantara steering wheel, handbrake handle embroidered with “M Powered” lettering and extended black Novillo leather trim, accented with contrasting Palladium Silver. other features such as Competition package, M Drive, M DCT Drivelogic, M Driver’s Package offers you the performance edge while professional navigation system, heated seats and Park Distance Control makes it an everyday ride. only 54 units will be made available across the various markets and its price tag includes an opportunity to attend the BMW M Fascination Nordschleife driver training course coached by none other than the newly crowned champion, Bruno Spengler. no word on when exactly this ride will roll into the showroom; all we know is production is expected to commence in February 2013. hit the jump for a few more look at this special edition M3.
