We have always have a thing for outdoor watches, though from the belly each of us here has, it is fairly obvious that outdoor activities are the last thing we do these days. But that’s not the point. The point is, Casio has a new outdoor timepiece that would appeal to serious outdoor enthusiasts (and the past us) and that timepiece is the PRO TREK PRW-3500. If you have the love for extreme sports, such as surfing (not the Internet, btw), diving, kayaking and rafting, this is the watch of choice. Besides looking the part of an outdoor watch, this new PRO TREK can now dive to 200 meters (656 feet) deep, allowing you to take you exploration deeper into the ocean.
Like its predecessor, it is outfitted with Triple Sensor Version 3 Technology which includes a direction and pressure sensor for compass and altimeter/barometer readings. There is even a pressure trend alarm to keep in the know of any sudden pressure swings that could signal you of imminent weather change – all from a gadget wrapped around your wrist. Additionally, it has a glove-friendly design with large buttons, non-slip surfaces and a register ring shaped for easy gripping, while Tough Solar Power technology means there’s no need for battery change – even if you intend to hide away in some caves, it will still keep running for up to 23 months.
In case it doesn’t get the light it needs, a special Power Save feature that allows the watch to power down for a certain period of time to conserve energy. It, btw, only need low or fluorescent light to recharge, so unless you are like hundreds of meters underground, the watch will be constantly recharging. A few other noteworthy mentions include low temperature resistant down to -10oC/14oF, full auto LED backlight illuminates in the dark with just a flick of the wrist, and last but not least, Casio’s Multi-Band 6 Atomic Timekeeping technology that takes care of Daylight Saving Time or leap years, ensuring the time and day are always to the tee.
The Casio PRO TREK Watch PRW-3500 comes in three flavors: silver bezel with black resin band, orange bezel with orange resin band, and black bezel with titanium band, and it can be yours to own for $300 and up.
