the concept of a performance speedboat drawing its inspiration from a land-roving vehicle isn’t new but one that’s based on an electric car certainly is. the Cigarette Racing AMG Electric Drive Concept Boat showcased at the 2013 Miami International Boat Show is one such example. driving this bright AMG Electricbeam Magno painted beast is the same electron-charged units that drives the road-going Mercedes-Benz AMG Coupe Electric Drive, which are a pair of independent powertrains that are symmetrically mounted on the left and right aft of the watercraft. each of the two units consist of six compact permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors, pumping out 185 horses (138 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of peak torque each and if do the math, that works out to be a mind-boggling 2,220 hp (1,656 kW) of maximum output and a totally insane 3,000 Nm (2,213 lb-ft) of torque. the AMG electric drive enables the 38-foot Cigarette Racing AMG Electric Drive Concept Boat to push through the water with a top speed of 86 knots or 160 km/h (99 mph), making it the world’s fastest electrically driven powerboat.
