seriously, we never understand the rationale of having to classify a gadget into business or consumer categories. i mean, don’t we just use them as it is? the again, that’s probably where the other part of the money is – apart from the pockets of regular consumers. speaking of which, DELL has just added its first business class Ultrabook to its business laptop line and not surprisingly, this sleek slim laptop is powered by none other than the soon-to-be-released Windows 8. packed within its 20mm thick magnesium chassis is a 14-inch matte HD-capable display with 1,366 x 768 resolution, a choice of Ivy Bridge core i3, i5 or i7 processor, integrated Intel HD4000 graphics, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, up to 256 SSD storage, option for 3G on top of the built-in WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, plus staples such as HDMI out, VGA port, as well as USB 3.0 ports. interestingly, DELL has decided to make this laptop office-tough to survive the cut-throat world of business by outfitting it with a spill resistant keyboard that ensures any accidental spillage of your early morning beverage will not end your day’s business there and then. another notable ‘office survival’ feature is a drop support feature, where the laptop will detects any sudden change in gravity (read: falling laptop) and turns off the hard drive to avoid any potential data corruption upon impact. the DELL Latitude 6430u Ultrabook will be available when Windows 8 launches, which should be sometime in October. price is, naturally, to be advised. for larger view, click on the above image.
