Weird that the media made a fuss about the lack of female toys pertaining to Disney/Lucasfilm’s latest blockbuster, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The funny thing was, we did saw the female lead’s merchandise around the time when the ding was made. Seriously, I don’t know what the media or the lobbyists expect. There’s just a couple key female characters (or two, to be exact), so surely they can’t really expect a lot of merchandises based on the two, right? Anywho, Disney has already pushes out a second wave of Star Wars: The Force Awakens products which the company cleverly worded as products that reveal secrets of Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren and more.
Well, we hate to break it to you that there’s no secrets to reveal here, at least not if you already watched the movie. The important thing is the heroine is part of it, which Disney is quick to add it is the first time for Star Wars was featured in the National Retail Federation’s top ten toys lists for both boys and girls, and “the new line puts heroine Rey front and center.” Note the last part – an obvious statement for those ‘stakeholders’ making the ding, just in case anyone missed it.
Anyways, the line up includes 12-inch action figures of Rey and Finn (as Stormtrooper FN-2187), 3.75-inch figures with new characters and scenes like Rey in her Resistance Outfit with here Lightsaber, Star Wars NERF Rey and Han Solo blasters, a Star Wars Bladebuilders Rey Electronic Lightsaber, updated Elite Series Die-Cast Action Figures, a Kylo Ren Unmasked action figure, and a Deluxe Figure Play Set comprising of 10 highly detailed figures such as General Leia, Han Solo, Rey, Kylo Ren and more.
Also in the second wave of Star Wars: The Force Awakens products are LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens construction sets featuring a Resistance Troop Transporter that comes with General Leia minifigure, plus LEGO Star Wars buildable figures of heroes and villains such as Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and more. Prices are yet to be confirmed, but we see that LEGO Rey is on Amazon, going for 29 bucks.
