So, you don’t have the money to fly in gold, or rose gold for that matter? Well, fret not. We have good news for you. You do not need to be obscenely rich to fly in gold cos’ with the DJI Phantom 4 Gold Edition offered by UK-based drone seller, DronesDirect, you can fly gold too, though granted, not so much as flying in gold. That’s kind of the ’discount’ you’d expect when you are paying a fraction of the price of a rose gold-treated Cobalt Valkyrie-X. Apparently, an one-off item and presumably created not by DJI but by DJI partner, DronesDirect, this particular imaging drone sets itself apart from the ‘lesser’ DJI Phantom 4 with a pretty stunning 24-carat gold plating on its body which also saw the landing gear getting the gold treatment.
Apart from that, you essentially getting a regular DJI Phantom 4 with features like 3-axis gimbal with a 4K camera, and sensors to enable it navigate itself and avoid obstacles. You can expect performances including 3.1 miles (5 km) range, a top speed of 20 m/s (or around 44 miles an hour), a max service ceiling of nearly 20,000 feet, and an 5,350 mAh ‘intelligent flight battery’ that offers up to 28 minutes of flight time. The £20,000 blinged Phantom 4 also includes a bunch of accessories, including two sets of propellers and storage bag, charger plus cable, gimbal clamp, a 16GB microSD card, and a carrying case. Pray hard you won’t be need those extra propellers though. If you do, that means it is bad news for the shinny gold body. Just saying…
