Grove Special Edition Gold Watch (Round)

Looking for an uber-stylist watch that’s in touch with nature and somewhat luxury at the same time? Well, then you may be interested in the Special Edition Gold Watch (Round) from Portland, Oregon-based gadget accessories maker Grove. Yes. It is the same folks who are into all thing bamboo and wood. As you can expect from a company who’s meticulous in details, the Special Edition Gold Watch is no different. While wood-based watches aren’t the newest news, Grove’s iteration takes things up several notches by having the entire watch face in hand-sanded hardwood and the time-telling implements beneath, showing through a series if circular cut outs.

To be honest, I have no idea how it works, but it does look super cool and as said, very in touch of nature. Sandwiched between the beautiful Oregon Claro Walnut watch face and the PVD 22-karat gold plated stainless steel case is a Miyota 5Y26 quartz movement that provides the clockwork. Rounding up the package is a domestic vegetable-tanned leather and a modest 1ATM water resistant. The combination of mostly wood watch face, gold hardware and leather makes the Special Edition Gold Watch a striking timepiece and while it is no doubt a beauty at any given angle, it may not appeal to those who are in for large case watches as the case diameter is a ‘normal’ 40 mm.
