can’t decide between a smartwatch and a Bluetooth headset even though these two gizmos are distinctively different? we shan’t dwell into why there is a debate over two different gadgets in the first place, but HeadWatch aims to call a truce to that deliberation once and for all, because this seemingly regular smartwatch is also, well, a Bluetooth headset. as mentioned, it looks like a regular smartwatch that works along with your smartphone offering the standard smartwatch fares with features like luminosity sensor, 3D accelerometer, and some bonus frills like temperature sensor and fancy RGB strip lights for notifications.

the watch is void of buttons and naturally has a waterproof construction but those are not the stars of the show. the magic, if you can even call it magic, only becomes apparent when making or taking calls. the watch face can be detached from the band, revealing a ear hook that would transform the smartwatch into a Bluetooth headset so you can keep your conversation private just like using any Bluetooth headsets. we are assuming that the watch, i mean the Bluetooth headset, has the necessary speaker and mic setup, and perhaps even bone conduction technology (since the earpiece is quite a distance from the mouth) which will enable a more discreet communication option.

for those who feel strongly that detaching a watch face is more efficient over pulling out the phone from the pocket, you are welcome to hit up Headwatch’s Indiegogo campaign and pledge your allegiance to this rather odd gizmos. expect the watch to set you back at $169 or more. as far as we can tell, there is nothing really concrete and perhaps that kind of explains why the project only receives a lukewarm reception to date, but hey, it has 58 more days to go and in between now and then, anything can happen. no? then again, with a funding goal of 300 grand (and fixed funding to boot), we’d say the bar is perhaps a little high up.
