need a big phone with really BIG sound? well, here’s one to watch out for: the new HTC Butterfly S smartphone. sporting the same 5″ Full HD super LCD 3 display, packing in 440 ppi, the ‘S’ iteration now boast a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, clocking in at 1.9GHz and 2GB of RAM. speed bump aside, the real star of show is a trio of features that are found on the firm’s flagship HTC One, namely, HTC BlinkFeed, UltraPixel Camera with HTC Zoe, and not forgetting the HTC BoomSound – yes, BoomSound – the front-facing stereo speakers that wowed the industry has found its way to the Butterfly S, bolstered by the same awesome Beats Audio and doing it without significantly increasing the handset’s physical size. on the imaging department, the S also inherits the One’s UltraPixel Camera with HTC Zoe giving you a BSI sensor, 28mm lens (F2.0), plus Smart Flash for five levels of flash that’s automatically set by distance to the subject, while the front gets a wide-angle, HDR-capable 2.1MP shooter.
it comes pack with a massive 3,200 mAh, the highest capacity battery to be fitted to a HTC smartphone, giving you more usage time to get the best out of Sense 5 UI and Android Jelly Bean OS. and man, do we welcome that. battery life remains the biggest woe in today’s handset and we salute HTC for introducing a bigger cap battery. other features include the much-touted HTC BlinkFeed, 16GB of onboard storage – expandable via microSD card slot (supports up to 64GB), 3/3.5G radio, GPS (AGPS and GLONASS, no less), digital compass, NFC, DLNA, WiFi, Bluetooth, Miracast, consumer-grade infrared, plus the bunch of obligatory sensors. the HTC Butterfly S will be available in Fervour Red, Glamour White, as well as Metallic Grey, starting from late July from Singapore’s major mobile communication network operators and select authorized resellers with a RRP of 988 SGD (about US$772).
