Smartphone or tablet dock is a dime a dozen and so, if you are going to produce one, you ought to make sure it is rocking some pretty solid selling points and we thought that’s what exactly what iDockAll 2 has. iDockAll 2, as the numeral implies, is the second iteration of Wiplabs’ first iDock introduced way back in 2013. As an outfit that keeps up to date with changing times, Wiplabs went back to the drawing board and rethink what a dock should be. Definitely not for mooring ship. Sorry for the subpar joke, I just can’t help it.

Anyways, the latest iteration continues the minimalistic approach, boasting a base crafted out of a solid block of anodized aluminum which offers it a sturdy 6 oz. (180 grams) of weight. But that’s not going to hold it down when say, for example, undocking a tablet with one hand and so, a micro-adhesive pad under the base provides it with additional holding power. And this pad can be reuse over and over again. Now, the wonder of this dock lies in its versatility in accommodating a variety of devices, ranging from iPhone to iPad to Android devices. And you want that because you don’t ever have to ditch the dock when switching brand, or change a different size device.

iDockAll 2 comes with a cable with a specially designed cable head where else some so-called versatile dock does even come with one to begin with. And this special cable head is another feature that makes iDockAll 2 stands out; on one hand, it allows you to undock the device without pulling the cable along and on the other, it also lets you undock the device with the cable still plugged in for times when you’re charging or syncing and you need to take that all-important call. With the cable still plugged, you can go ahead and take the call without interrupting the charging. Quiet brilliant, isn’t it? But how did Wiplabs make that happen is not clear.

You can find iDockAll 2 Device Dock on Kickstarter where you will be able to secure a unit for $29-49 with the cable of your choice of connector (Lightning, Micro, or USB-C) included.
