perhaps the current Apple slate doesn’t cut it for you because you probably have envisioned a portable touchscreen device that will allow you to execute the tasks like your desktop machine does. we can safely say that you won’t be seeing such a device from the Cupertino folks anytime soon. lucky for you, your dream for such a powerful slate is not dashed – thanks to the creative minds from Modbook Inc., who are prepared to tear up the guts of the recently refreshed non-Retina MacBook Pro and fused them with Wacom’s state-of-the-art digitizer. meet the Modbook Pro, a 13.3-inch stylus-based tablet that runs on the full-fledge OS X aka Mountain Lion and features a configurable specifications that include 2.5GHz Intel i5 core or Intel i7 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of hard drive or up to 960GB SSD, an 8X SuperDrive DVD writer, Intel HD Graphics 4000 chipset, WiFi n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. it will offer users 512 levels of pen pressure sensitivity via its tough, scratch-resistant ForceGlass and a programmable digitizer pen. other features include a lone USB port, Gigabit Ethernet port, FireWire 800 port, a single Thunderbolt port, audio line in/out, plus one SDXC card slot. no physical dimensions were given at this point but with such an impressive guts and near-similar ports offered, don’t go around expecting it to be wafer-thin and light or even anything remotely close. also, there are a few things that you should be wary of about the Modbook Pro: you will have to forego its FaceTime camera, as well as the one-year warranty from Apple. in place of the latter, you will be covered by Modbook Inc’s one-year “top-to-bottom” warranty. expect the ModBook Pro to hit the stores early fall 2012 with prices to be advised. click through for a few more larger views.
