artist and consumer product collaborations are not new but what sets the Mutewatch Svart apart from the rest is, Mutewatch happens to be the pioneer of touchscreen watch and the Svart could very well be the first touchscreen watch collaboration with an artist. we remembered the first touchscreen watch that supports gestures to be an alluring red hue and somewhat abstract time piece which tickles our fancy but for the new Svart, though the watch’s form remains the same, as with the functionality, it takes on a new colorway: a deep and intensive black that really makes the screen digits pops while the rest of the watch is given some servings of abstract art by artist Jesper Nyrén. the black also brings out Nyrén’s unique kaleidoscopic pattern on gold hardware. according to Nyrén, the pattern “is designed in relation to the watch’s specific shape and properties, and is also intended to bring to mind the passage of time as well as jewelry and ornaments.” visually, we can easily see why and thus, we have no doubt Nyrén has achieved the jewelry and ornaments effect. seriously, it looks more like an art piece that’s worthy of a space on the display cabinet than be worn. this awesome fashion time piece is available now for $299 a piece and comes with a special box decorated with the same kaleidoscopic pattern but only with more colors. psychedelic!
