nabi Big Tab Android Tablets

the nabi Big Tab Android Tablets from California-based Fuhu may not be the biggest slates we have seen, but it is certainly the world’s first Android tablet built just for kids. though so, these massive tablets of 20-inch and 24-inch display sizes, are still perfectly suitable for grown ups and elderly too. the idea behind going big is, it allows for sharing to promote, as the company said, “social interaction, communication, collaboration, and socialized learning.” so the Big Tab slates are basically geared at families, where possibly three generations can have a good time together. btw, the ‘sharing’ in this case means ‘bonding’ which means real, physical human interactions and not the ‘usual’ virtual kind of sharing via some cold servers, if you know what we mean.

the two tablets in the lineup include the nabi Big Tab HD 20″ and nabi Big Tab HD 24″ with the 20-inch model sporting a HD+ 1,600 x 900 resolution display and the 24-inch variant getting a Full HD display. they are powered by quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor and has 16GB onboard storage, and comes with a “revolutionary” lightweight, removable carrying frame that lets you use the device at any angle, propping it up much like an easel for slideshows, movie watching and such. though big, room-to-room portability is also possible, thanks to the built-in short-term battery, but certainly not beyond the rooms within your pad. apart the handful of hard specs, details on the hardware is scarce. the company is more interested in telling you what they can do, as opposed to what the tablets have on the inside.

as mentioned earlier, the tablets aim to bring family together and as such, they are focused on wholesome activities like multiplayer gaming (much like board games), catching family-friendly movies, story telling with interactive ebooks, and creative activities like drawing, animation and video editing. basically, doing all the good stuff and nothing of the bad. the real star of the nabi Big Tab is actually in the software, which is Fuhu’s Blue Morpho OS overlay with over 400 features including parental controls and kid-centric experiences for learning, playing and growing.

if you ask me, this couldn’t come at a better time when ‘pollutants’ available widely on the Internet are posing a threat to today’s kids growth. i mean, you don’t seriously believe “click here if you are over 18” works or even Goat Simulator is ‘healthy’ to a child’s growth, do you? anywho, if you are up for the Big Tab kid-friendly Android tablets, do look out for them this Fall when they hit the shelves with a price tag of $449 and $549 for 20-inch and 24-inch models, respectively.
