amidst the slew of new imaging devices announced by Sony, Nikon also had this list of announcements, starting with the cool and fashionable COOLPIX AW100/AW100s Digital Compact Cameras. the AW100 series is the first compact digital camera from Nikon that’s waterproof, shock-proof and resistant to cold. equipped with a 16.0-megapixels CMOS sensor with full HD movie recording, this rugged compact also features GPS support (with aGPS), an electronic compass and a map display. basically, it is embodied with features that all point towards the great outdoor adventure.

other features include large action button to facilitate ease of use even with gloves on, underwater scene mode for underwater photography, backside illumination CMOS sensor for improve performance in low light situation, and EXPEED C2 image-processing engine for improve image quality and faster processing. the AW100 comes in five attractive hues, including orange, black, white, blue and my personal favorite, camouflage. though, only three colors are stated on Nikon USA website at this moment. the Nikon COOLPIX AW100/AW100S Digital Compact Camera carries a MSRP of $379.95.
