you heard the announcement. so is the Nokia Lumia 1020 a camera first or a phone first? before the reviews start turning up, we are skeptical. we are not sure whether to take the 1020 as a camera with smartphone functionality or the other way round. we have are torn. on one hand we wished all smartphones have awesome “normal camera” quality (or DSLR even) and on the other, we wanted it to do more – more as in what a smartphone should do like having an awesome OS that not only lets us make calls, but also helps us to navigate and perhaps, organize our life and keep us entertained. yes. we want everything, but is a in-your-face 41MP camera really necessary at all? we are not fortunate enough to lay our hands on a review set, but the good news is, major gadget sites have had the chance and believe it or not, we read most of them, and as always, we round up some of the most interesting and helpful reviews that would help you in deciding whether a camera-centric phone is for you. check out our Nokia Lumia 1020 Review Roundup after the break

scouring through the numerous reviews, we can conclude that as far imaging is concerned, there is no doubt the 41MP camera is a winner, but the same cannot be say for the rest of the phone. not that the rest of the specs and performance are not up to par, but perhaps the massive megapixel sensor did take quite a lot of shine away from an otherwise great Windows phone. the easiest way to think of it is, imagine what if there isn’t a whopping 41MP camera? it could be just anther phone and for aesthetic obsessed lot like us, we would choose the Lumia 925 over the 1020. we didn’t have a chance to caress the 1020 as would love to, but like we said, as far as design goes, 925 is a clear winner. then again, how can one not be tempted by the prospect of not having to lug along a mid to high end camera, ever?
