Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Goldfinger 50th Anniversary Watch

if you think the watch above is drool-worthy, you’d be right, albeit being a little on the ostentatious side of the taste scale, but however you adore it, it is gone. this is an one-off piece from luxury watchmaker Omega and was recently sold at an exclusive online charity auction for 106,000 Swiss Franc (£70,000 or about US$113,000). anyways, it is only fitting for Omega to make a watch to mark the 50th anniversary of Goldfinger since the watchmaker’s Seamaster has been used in every 007 flicks since GoldenEye in 1995 and also, it is only fitting to give the awesome Seamaster Aqua Terra a golden makeover for this purpose. as you might have gathered from the image above, the timepiece is all about gold, starting with the 38.5mm 18K yellow gold case, paired to a matching bracelet. the dial is naturally in shimmering 18K yellow gold and as are the hands, which are also coated with Super-LumiNova to allow time telling in any lighting conditions.

the golden treatment extends to the back of the watch where, through the transparent crystal caseback, you will find a counterweight on the central seconds hand also treated to 18K yellow gold, complete with the word “Goldfinger” and the iconic 007 logo. further under the hood, its OMEGA Master Co-Axial caliber 8501 movement also boasts an 18K yellow gold rotor and bridge, as opposed to the regular 18K red gold it is usually equipped with. and finally, an oscillating weight in 18K yellow gold wraps up the midas touch. rounding up this superlative package are words “GOLDFINGER”, “50TH ANNIVERSARY”, “UNIQUE PIECE”, “ANTI-MAGNETIC”, “> 15,000 GAUSS”, engraved on the ring on the caseback that tells the story of the watch. and oh, you do know that this piece is resistant to magnetic fields greater than 15,000 gauss, right?

though the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Goldfinger 50th Anniversary Watch’s presentation box isn’t in gold, but it does speak gold or richness in a more subtle way: the box has a design inspired by the U.S. Bullion Depository building, located at Fort Knox. brilliant. as a gentle reminder, this exclusive piece is an one-off thing. so don’t bother Googling for it. as much as we adore it, we won’t cry over it cos’ we can’t afford it with our shitty income anyways.
