Skull Walker 2.0 Walking Sculpture by Y. Nakajima

Many artists have sculpted artwork that revolved around human skulls, so if another one comes along, it shouldn’t be a major news, but this particular mechanical skull from Japanese sculptor Y. Nakajima is different. Aptly entitled Skull Walker 2.0, Nakajima’s iteration of a mechanical skull is not content with staying put in one location; it wants to move, and it surely can, because it has functioning ‘legs’. Kind of creepy if you asked me and it looks totally like what nightmares are made of. It is made creepier by the fact that it has no torso – not even a skeletal one, nor does it has any upper limbs; it is just the skull and a few trusty legs that enables it to scurry around.

Lucky for humanity, it is built on Theo Jansen’s radio controlled Hexbug Strandbeast XL, which means it does not have a mind of its own and hence, it won’t be able to go around freaking the souls out of fellow humans. Though this part art, part machine mechanical sculpture looks like something from the Army of the dead, or it could very well be part of a swarm Hydra plans on dominating the Earth with. Keep going to see it in action. Also, it is not creepy as the real life G. Really.
