up till now, we (and probably the world) are quite content with what a pair of headphone has to offer. you know? that’s to give us a private listening space. if has got noise cancellation, well, it’s a bonus. if it can be social, sure, we welcome that too. the thing is, no matter what fringe features it has, at the end of the day, delivering music for personal enjoyment is the key, which all headphones can fulfill. it is just a matter of what type of headphones and sound quality you are after. so we are really fine with headphones development thus far, or is it? then came the SoundSight Headphones that makes us question our basic criteria we ask of a pair of cans. it is a pair of audio headphones, there is no doubt about that, but it also packs a 1080p camera, six microphones, voice control and even has a 6-axis gyroscope and accelerometer to boot.

not only does the built-in video camera allows for recording 720p video at 30 fps, but it can also live stream them too (albeit at a modest 640p at 24 fps over Bluetooth). a companion app, available for both Android and iOS devices, lets you edit the footage and audio before broadcasting it over a social network of your choosing, you know, just in case you have scenes that you rather not to be seen. the video camera is built into a rotating ring, allowing it to be rotated so you won’t look awkward when trying to record. no specifics where given on the audio reproduction department, but it is said to yield ‘studio quality audio’ from its dynamic drivers and noise cancellation comes as standard. the headphones come fitted with with a 800 mAh lithium-ion battery which is good for four hours usage with all features activated or up to 18 hours with just the noise cancellation turned on.

apart from the detachable 3.5mm audio cable, which is supplied in both coiled and straight variant, USB audio is also supported. last but not the least, the SoundSight Headphones come wrapped in a designed that reeks with futuristic flair that would have the nod of approval from any style-conscious geeks. the SoundSight Headphones will be officially available in Spring 2015 for $499, but if you can’t hardly wait, there is a limited pre-ordering going on, where you can bagged one for $349 and expect to see it at your doorstep by Christmas 2014.
