It is not uncommon for automakers to team up with celebrities, fashion labels, and pop culture icons to roll out special edition rides, but not so much with food, let alone a hot sauce. Well, ‘not so much’ does not mean it will not happen because, it has happened and by the way of a 2017 Lexus Sriracha iS Sports Sedan. Yes, you read that right. Japanese luxury car maker Lexus and the world’s most famous hot sauce, Sriracha, has teamed up to roll out this chilli red ride to mark the launch of the 2017 Lexus iS sports sedan. As crazy as it may sound, 2017 Lexus Sriracha iS Sports Sedan is a thing and in case you have any doubt, you can check it out in person at Los Angeles Auto Show, starting November 18 through to November 27, 2016, where it will be on display.
Though, this isn’t a factory vehicle; it was brought to life by the folks over at West Coast Customs and boast some pretty hot features, including Sriracha Red color complete with flecks of chili-like flakes, Sriracha-injected steering wheel, Sriracha temperature settings for seat warmers and air-conditioning/heating system, Sriracha driving mode that offers quicker gear changes and more dynamic throttle mapping, handcrafted plush leather seats embroidered with Huy Fong rooster logo, Sriracha IS logo plus green accents, Sriracha IS badges, and suitable amount of green accents paying homage to the hot sauce’s green bottle cap can be found throughout the ride.
There’s no holding back in this collaboration between Lexus and Huy Fong Foods, the company behind Sriracha, as testified by the fact that this car comes fully stocked with 43 bottles of Sriracha “for emergency condiment situations” and a matching chilli red and green key fob with an additional button, an emergency chilli button, that when pressed, dispenses the hot sauce from a nozzle on the fob. Yes, I know. This sure does sound like an April’s Fools day prank, but like we said, it is as real as you and me. And to be honest, we don’t ever wish this was a prank.
That said, while the car maybe real, the reality is, you probably can’t buy, at least it does not sounds like you can buy one anyway. If it is indeed for sale, then you maybe interested in picking a special collab driving jacket and also, a pair of driving mitts too because, this car is probably too hot to handle.
