it is a strange time to be releasing a commemorative iPhone 5s, but still, we are pretty sure the Gold-plated Limited Edition iPhone 5s by GineeX Studio will garner its fair share of attention. unlike The Million Dollar iPhone and the cohort of gold and blinged out iPhone 5/5s, the GineeX Studio iteration takes on a more subtle approach by only introducing 18K gold-trimming and focus more on the spirit of the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. the gold treatment is extended throughout the sides, covering the mute switch, volume controls, as well as the power on/off button. as eye-catching as the gold is, it could not detract us from the finer (and classy, if we might add) details of this limited edition iPhone 5s. things hasn’t been the same with Apple. it used to be, anticipation never fails to brew before the next smartphone announcement, but not this time round cos’ all the leaked ahead of its announcement already kind of tells us what to expect. gone are the days of closely guarded secrets and how do say that? mojo? the first iPhone was a beauty. the 3/3s was a surprise design change (and one heck of a durable phone). the 4/4s was a huge leap in design advancement, albeit being plagued by antenna issue. but the 5? that’s where some fans started questioning the post-Jobs era Apple. seriously? an elongated 4″ phone? yes. the Cupertino folks couldn’t be more serious and to make the point, the new Apple iPhone 5s and 5c smartphones are sticking with the 4″ retina display. so eat it, non-adopter. anyway, those are just my rants. by now, the Internet must be swamping with reports about the newly announced duo, however, in case you haven’t heard, Apple has two smartphones, the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s, that they want to exchange for your hard-earned dough. though most gadgets lover would prefer the ‘classic’ black and/or silver look for their gadgets, there are a handful out there with Scrooge McDuckian level of wealth who still prefers to showoff their gadgets in the ultimate opulent style (it’s a tradition, ain’t it?). if you belongs to that McDuck circle (and we want to be your friends) then the Gold Swarovski iPhone 5 by Amosu Couture might be worthy of your consideration – unless, you think £3,599 (roughly US$5,770) is far too cheap for you too even to bother about. when it comes to standing out from the millions of other iPhone 5 users, money does it all. though we have to quantify that we are still unsure about how much this luxe-up iPhone 5 from Geneva-based firm Golden Dreams will cost but they are certain to be pricey. there are two editions available: the Desert Edition and the Gold Edition 24ct. the former is touted as the world’s first leather covered iPhone with certified Mississippi Alligator leather wrapping up the entire middle section of the handset’s back. Before the sad news of Jobs’ passing came, there was a short but strong buzz on why there isn’t an iPhone 5. Frankly, I was doubtful if there was ever going to be an iPhone 5 this year. Why is that so, you may ask. Let’s take a look at iPhone launch history, starting from iPhone 3 proper. iPhone 3 was launched in July 11, 2008 and it seems like it is a second test bed after iPhone original was launched (that’s June 29, 2007 – in case you didn’t know). Then it happen again, this time it was the iPhone 3GS which was launched in June 19, 2009. All in all, the same aesthetic (or design, if you prefer) remained for two years before iPhone 4 came about in June 28, 2010. Hence, it led me to believe that it is unlikely that an all-new iPhone will be announced. It makes perfect business sense. Continue reading

finally, the anticipation is over and first, the bad news. the dream of bigger screen and an all-new design, aka iPhone 5, is blown. yeap, there’s no iPhone 5 after all but the good news is, there’s really an iPhone 4S. iPhone 4S is essentially an iPhone 4 with new guts and more memory, and when combined, should run your apps faster. and then, there is the Siri, a personal assistant that uses voice commands for organizing your life and an all-new 8.0-megapixels rear-facing camera with several tweaks. under the hood, the iPhone 4S is now equipped with faster processor and graphics. since there isn’t much to shout about in term of design, let’s take a short run down of some of the more notable enhancements over the current iPhone 4. there’s an official iPhone 4S intro video available after the break. (image credit: Gresso) Gresso custom limited edition Black Diamonds iPhone 4 | US$tbc | gresso.com
there are hundreds of ways to make an already expensive iPhone 4 even more expensive. giving it an all out gold treatment is one way but that’s so yesterday. there is a more classy way, like adorning it with white and black diamonds over a classy 200-year-old African Blackwood. if the aforementioned statement tickles your senses, then the new Gresso iPhone 4 Black Diamonds for Lady is the phone for you. however, if you are not a lady, i’m sure the classy diamonds and wood combo won’t make you any less manly.
in place of the fragile glass panel, this Gresso item has a wooden panel crafted out of a 200-year-old African Blackwood and encrusted with 6-carats black diamonds, 13-carats white diamonds, and topped with 18-carats pink gold and platinum precious metals. the edge is of platinum, adorned with black diamonds and the ‘home’ button is decorated with 2-carats black diamond framed inside a cluster of white diamonds and pink gold. beautiful isn’t? we love the diamonds and blackwood combo. it gives a sense of classiness without the being too ostentatious.
unfortunately, there are now words on how much the custom limited edition Gresso iPhone 4 Black Diamonds for Lady will cost, however it is safe to assume that it would cost a bomb. but hey, it is totally gorgeous, ain’t it?

when iPhone 4 was announced i was full of excitement, and readied myself to grab the white iPhone 4 but unfortunately, Mr. white iPhone 4 was unable to turn up for my taking due to some apparent issues with the white paint job. that was like more than six months but my urge to get a white iPhone 4 has since subsided. not surprisingly, as the saying goes ‘time heals’.
nevertheless, for those who are still hoping to get your hands on the white version, the wait is nearing an end or at least, it seems to look that way. as reported by Engadget, a shelf tag was spotted at Best Buy indicating ‘AT&T iPhone 4 16GB WHIT’ retailing at $599.99. just how legit this photo-snap is, well, your guess is as good as mine. in fact, Best Buy is not the only one, Bell also has shelf tag indicating white iPhone 4′s availability.
good luck to the white iPhone 4 lovers, at least you can quit thinking about purchasing the white case to replace the black (and risk ruining your warranty).
