is it a boat or is it an aircraft? well, the wFoil 18 Albatross you see here is part of both. it was created so that regular folks like us can experience the exhilaration of flying without the complexity associated with flying a real aircraft. the wFoil 18 Albatross is a flying boat that provides its pilot (and a passenger) the thrill of flying whilst sailing above the sea on the tips of the foils, traveling at a speed of up to 50 knots (about 92 km/h or 58 mph). we know, it probably look weird to some but to us, this is a beautiful vehicle and one that look more like a vintage aircraft than a boat. as you might have already know, it utilizes patented swept hydro foils design to enable it to skim on the surface of the water and thus, allowing it to reach a far greater speed than any other types of hydro foils. there are two versions of the wFoil 18 Albatross: the motor and the sailing version, and presumably the two versions can be interchanged easily. unfortunately, this sweet little watercraft is not yet for sale but we heard there are plans to convince you to part with your money for this flying boat. we certainly hope so because (we are saying it again) this is one heck of a good looking machine. period. in the mean time, click past the jump for a few more images and a video of the wFoil 18 Albatross’ maiden sea flight.
