I do not keep abreast with so-called Apple rumors. However, today I picked up something that pique my interest and so I thought we’d share it with you here. We read that there is a chance that future iPhone models will have “hover” gestures and curved displays. Curved like, you know, the iconic Nokia 8110, AKA the banana phone, which recently got rebooted? The curved was described as “inward” and progresses “gradually from top to bottom,” which does really makes it sounds like 8110 kind of design. I know. It is hard to imagine how, but not to worry, because designer Martin Hajek has taken the rumors and imagine what the phone would look like. OnePlus 5T has been unveiled barely a month ago, but already, someone has imagined what the next flagship, OnePlus 6, would look like and it is so beautiful that you will probably don’t want to buy the OnePlus 5T now. Of course, this isn’t real. First of all, even number is not OnePlus’s norm. Any OnePlus fan would have told you that the next OnePlus is likely to be labelled ‘7’, not ‘6’. Anyways, according to Science and Knowledge, the YouTube channel responsible for this render, the concept phone was based on “latest leaks and rumors” and so, we shall take it with a huge pinch of salt, and enjoying fantasizing about it. The rivalry between Apple and Samsung could be more ferocious than some might have imagined. Case in point: just before the official announcement of Apple’s anniversary iPhone, the iPhone X and the next-generation iPhone, the iPhone 8, Samsung made an official statement in South Korea of its intention to continue pursuing foldable display smartphones. Until now, foldable display device is to smartphone like flying cars to personal transportation. There are talks about it and even concept made, but never realized. That being said, the concept of foldable phone, particularly one that has a foldable display, is not the newest news. If you believe Google ambitious modular phone, Project Ara, is the future of smartphone, then we have not-so-good news for you: the future is not going to happen. According to a report, Google has pull the plug on Project Ara. It is a strange turn of event. Stranger still since this would-be revolutionary phone was reportedly making headway just last year (though, that halted too) and just not too long ago in May this year, Alphabet’s Google revealed a bunch of developers and even said that the company would be shipping the developer edition of the product this autumn. With those news, one may have the impression that the future of this Continue reading Google Project Ara: Its Modular Phone No More, At Least Not For Now
lets not kid ourselves; we never wished for a phone upgrade cos’ being geeks, we are all in for new gadgets and hence, an endeavor like the Motorola Project Ara Modular Smartphone which touts upgradability may not be the cuppa for us and some folks. i am not saying everyone is like us, but most of us, though not explicitly expressed, could benefit from a jolt of excitement into our tech-laden life, and getting a brand new phone kind of does that. however, if you look at Motorola Project Ara Modular Smartphone from another perspective, it is like a hardware version of the Android, where the community decides how the phone should look, what it is made of (or where it is made, even) and basically, customize the phone to your specific needs. remember the Nokia 8110 mobile phone? which also was affectionately known as the ‘Banana’ phone due to its curve profile and further made famous by the movie ‘Matrix’? good. you remember it, don’t you? that was the phone i would vote as my all time favorite, until now when the concept Huawei Leaf appears before my eyes. aesthetically, it is significantly different from the 8110 but somehow the profile reminisces of the banana phone. commissioned by Huawei, Claesson Koivisto Rune designed this minimalist styled phone with quite a visual impact. though keypads are so passe but i think the phone still looks great. i love the folded side profile but do we need to have a bulked up front profile? it looks just plain weird and toy-like. if it has a straight front profile, it would be perfect. good thing that it is a concept and there’s a chance to make amends but would they?
