2023 Porsche 911 Carrera T Has 7-Speed Manual Gearbox As Standard

2023 Porsche 911 Carrera T Sports Coupe

It’s OK if you can’t shell out US$220,000+ for a Porsche 911 GT3 RS because there is an equally cool Porsche 911 that cost about half the price and it is the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera T.

In addition to a starting price of just US$118,050, the new Porsche 911 Carrera T stood out with some pretty serious weight-saving measures – which include ditching the rear seats, reduced insulation, and the use of lightweight glass and a lightweight battery – making a lightweight sports car.

All told the new Carrera tips the scales at just 1,470 kilograms (3,240 pounds) making it the lightest series 911 with an entry-level engine.

There is no “G” in this Carrera. It has just a “T”, which stands for touring and “describes models that offer a purist driving experience with exceptionally sporty equipment.”

The new Porsche 911 Carrera T sits squarely between the 911 Carrera and the 911 Carrera S.

For the purest and most unadulterated driving pleasure, the Carrera T comes outfitted with a seven-speed manual gearbox, augmented by Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a mechanical rear differential lock.

There is an eight-speed PDK too for those who want it. No judgment here. I know how PDK could be quicker but nothing beats the feeling of manually manipulating the gears as you cruise along a winding road.

The 7-speed stick shifter is paired with a Biturbo, flat-six engine producing 379 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, which enables it a century sprint of 4.5 seconds (or 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds) before topping out at 291 km/h (180 mph).

In addition to PASM sports suspension with 10-mm-lowering, the 911 Carrera T also comes with the Sport Chrono package as standard.

Other highlights include a GT sports steering wheel, sports exhaust system with high-gloss black tailpipes, four-way electric Sports Seats Plus, and T-specific 20- and 21-inch Titanium Grey Carrera S wheels in front and back, respectively, wrapped in 245/35 (front) and 305/30 (back) rubbers.
