If you asked me, I’d say DJI is the epitome of imaging drones, whether it’s the technology or the design. But some drone enthusiasts and engineers beg to differ. Backed by Insta360, these folks are suffering from modern-day drone fatigue. They feel that today’s drones look good on paper but are “lifeless in the air.” And thus, a new drone company, Antigravity, is born.
The team behind this Insta360-incubated drone company wants “to make flight feel less like work—and more like wonder.” They aim “to redefine aerial exploration and storytelling.” Forget about 8K 360 action cams—this up-and-coming drone also does 360 imaging in glorious, eye-popping 8K resolution. And may we remind you that it flies, too. It will be the world’s first 360 drone with true immersive capture.
Since this is just a teaser for now, we don’t have specifics on the exciting new drone. However, we do know it will circumvent the need for registration thanks to its sub-249g form factor. In addition, it’s designed to be easy to use—even for inexperienced pilots.
Antigravity’s first drone will introduce several world-firsts in drone design, including community-involved design and collaboration, and payload detection to prevent misuse or unauthorized modifications for purposes other than exploration and imaging.
More information on the brand’s first drone is expected this month (August). Meanwhile, you can sign up to be notified of the latest updates at antigravity.com.
