What happens when a premier “urban outdoor” brand, famous for blending high-fashion design aesthetics with technical outdoor performance, meets a premier British manufacturer of folding bicycles? Nothing. Really. Only a folding bicycle so desirable that you cannot decide whether to ride it or wear it. Just kidding, but I think you know what I am getting at.
Folks, meet the new Brompton × and wander G Line Folding Bicycle.
The London-built bike wears textured metallic grey with vibrant yellow anodised accents, custom grips, hinge clamps, and a printed Superlight saddle. Reflective decals and a saddle charm complete the outfit. There’s even a matching backpack included, so your luggage won’t embarrass the bicycle.
That bag uses water-resistant ECOPAK made from recycled polyester and clips onto the front carrier. Ride to your destination, detach it, and wear it. See? You can sort of wear the bicycle—just without the wheels, frame, handlebars, and most of the bicycle.
Underneath the fashion treatment are 20-inch Schwalbe Big Apple tyres, Shimano Alfine eight-speed hub gearing, and hydraulic disc brakes. Mudguards and a colour-matched Roller Rack come fitted, too. It folds down for storage and travel, although its starting weight of 14.8 kg (32.6 lbs) should discourage confusing “folding” with “weightless.”
The Brompton × and wander G Line is listed at £2,999 in the UK (or around US$4,060), with the online store currently showing “Coming soon.”
