As it turns out, Roborock isn’t the only one to pitch the idea of a robot arm–equipped robot vacuum. Dreame did, too—also at last year’s CES. However, this year, Dreame makes it real.
Folks, meet the Dreame Cyber 10 Ultra, a robot vacuum that has a robot arm stowed away in its body. Yes. It is real! This robot vacuum was also previewed at last year’s IFA, but it has only now been confirmed that it will be available later this year.
By default, it is outfitted with a claw attachment and is able to grab objects up to 500 grams (about 1 lb). Here’s the kicker: it can swap attachments. It can head back to the base station, where several attachments await.
One of the attachments is a standalone vacuum cleaner called the Dusting Brush, which is like a miniature version of a handheld vacuum cleaner. This vacuum cleaner is a standalone unit, complete with a vacuuming function, a debris containment unit, and a brush nozzle. When done, the robovac will return the attachment to the base station, where the dust it collected will be emptied automatically.
So, yeah, getting to those hard-to-reach areas with a robot vacuum is no longer a pipe dream.
In addition to the usual vacuuming duties, it also mops, and it can climb small steps up to 6 cm (about 2.4 inches).
Unfortunately, this is what we currently know. We hear it will be coming later this year, sometime in August, for about €1,799 (~US$2,097).
