Montegrappa has already armed James Bond fans with the 007 Spymaster Duo and a Goldfinger anniversary pen. Evidently, Q Branch’s stationery drawer still had room.
The latest is the Montegrappa 007 A View to a Kill Limited Edition, inspired by Roger Moore’s final outing as Bond in the 1985 film. It will not fire darts, deploy a grappling hook, or help you escape from Grace Jones. It does, however, make signing a receipt look unnecessarily important.
Its pierced stainless-steel barrel recreates the structure of the Eiffel Tower, where Bond and May Day had a slightly more eventful visit than most tourists. Beneath it sits a rifled gold-plated brass core styled after the gun-barrel sequence that opens the Bond films. The cap carries a micro-cast depiction of the parachute escape, while a laser-engraved silhouette of Bond hides inside. Secret agents apparently demand Easter eggs even from their pens.
The fountain pen receives an 18K gold nib, ebonite feed, and piston-filling system. The rollerball swaps those for a gold-plated brass tip shaped like a rifled bullet. Please resist yelling “Pew! Pew!” while signing documents.
Only 250 individually numbered examples of each version will be produced. Every pen comes in a display case modeled after the Zorin Industries airship, giving your writing instrument better accommodation than some studio apartments.
The Montegrappa 007 A View to a Kill costs €6,800 (about US$7,850) as a fountain pen or €5,700 (around US$6,580) as a rollerball. At those prices, the ink had better be shaken, not stirred.
