I can’t quite remember if writing played a big role in the world of 007, but if it did, I’m pretty sure the Montegrappa 007 Spymaster Duo Anniversary Edition would have been the perfect writing tool that Q designed for the world’s famous MI6 agent.
This unique pen was launched by the Italian luxury writing instrument maker to celebrate the 60th anniversary of James Bond, and it hit the market back in February. Strangely, it somehow flew under our radar when it was first announced. But hey, Montegrappa brought it back into the spotlight recently, thanks to James Bond Day on October 5th.
On that day, Prime Video treated us to a new Bond adventure, ‘007: Road To A Million.’ But here’s the twist – it’s not a new Bond film or series, but an eight-part reality adventure series filmed in iconic Bond locations. And it’s all hosted by Brian Cox. Check out the teaser:
But now, let’s dive into the world of this unique writing instrument. The Montegrappa 007 Spymaster Duo Anniversary Edition is a limited edition piece, with just 380 available for both the Fountain Pens with 18k Gold Nibs and Rollerballs. Similar to Bond’s array of high-tech gadgets, this Bond-themed pen is designed with style and functionality fit for the iconic British agent.
Crafted from gray stainless steel, this exquisite spy pen features rifling on the upper barrel and cap segments, giving a nod to the iconic 007 gun-barrel title sequence. It also sports an alloy ‘pistol-grip’ barrel, a steel grip section, and a 007 chevron clip on the cap – truly capturing the essence of Bond’s world. But it’s not just about the looks; this pen has more up its sleeve, just like the gadgets from MI6’s Q branch.
The pen conceals hidden mechanical features and extras. It even has a ‘false’ upper barrel that hides a pair of 007 cufflinks, accessible through a special locking mechanism and a dummy blind cap. And that’s not all – it includes the revolutionary advanced Swift-Shot mechanism, turning the process of refilling the fountain pen into a satisfying ritual. Brass ink capsules, each shaped like a bullet, use Power-Push hydraulic action and a custom-built reloading pipette to refill the fountain pen.
To complete the spy-worthy experience, this pen is presented in a custom case with secret compartments and a journal. Fountain pen buyers also receive two bottles of 007-branded ink.
