BMW Sold 12K M2 Coupe In 2017, Celebrates With A Special Black Shadow Edition

2018 BMW M2 Coupe Edition Black Shadow

BMW is particularly proud of the BMW M2 last year. In all, the German automaker said it has pushed out 12,000 units all over the world. Pardon me for my ignorance, but 12,000 is not a lot, right? Oh well, whatever it is, BMW thought it is a milestone worth mentioning and celebrating with a special edition BMW M2 called BMW M2 Coupe Edition Black Shadow. The Edition Black Shadow is supposed to emphasize “the compact high-powered sports car’s performance characteristics with precisely harmonized design features.” How so? I have absolutely no idea.

Propelling the compact stature of the M2 is the 370 horsepower inline six motor which, when mated to the optional 7-speed M dual clutch gearbox with Drivelogic, enables the Black Shadow to make the century sprint in just 4.3 seconds. The M2 is, of course, rear-wheel driven, just like a real sports car should. The special model sets itself apart with an exclusive exterior color called Sapphire Black metallic, 19-inch matte black forged light alloys with a Y-spoke design and “mixed tires,” carbon finish exterior mirrors, high gloss black grille and trim bars for the side panels, carbon finish rear diffuser, and black chrome trims M double tailpipes.

As you can see, what the 2018 BMW M2 Coupe Edition Black Shadow has to offer are nothing more than cosmetics, but I have admit the Sapphire Black metallic does look rather alluring. Good for those who haven’t got a M2, otherwise, there will be no reason to acquire this right, really. The 2018 BMW M2 Coupe Edition Black Shadow is expected to be available, presumably worldwide, starting April 2018. No idea about the price, but as a rule of thumb, such special edition is always a tad more than ‘standard’ variety. Speaking of which, as a gauge, the starting price for the standard BMW M2 Coupe is 59,500 euros. Check out a couple of more looks at this black beauty below.
