Snoopy Puts on a Top Hat for Bamford London’s Harrods-Exclusive GMT

Bamford London x Snoopy Steel GMT Watch 40mm

Snoopy has traded his Flying Ace helmet for a top hat. No, he has not abandoned aviation for Victorian banking. He is merely dressing appropriately for the new Bamford London x Harrods Snoopy Edition.

Created exclusively for Harrods, the automatic GMT watch places the world’s most famous beagle at the center of the dial, looking unusually distinguished in his formal headwear. It is very gentleman-about-London, with his sidekick Woodstock tagging along for the ride as the tip of the central GMT hand.

The watch uses a 40 mm case made from 316L stainless steel, measuring 11.7 mm thick and 46.5 mm from lug to lug. An anti-glare-treated sapphire crystal protects the dial, while an internal rotating bezel and central GMT hand allow wearers to follow a second time zone. That should prove useful whenever Snoopy resumes flying internationally.

Inside is the Swiss-made Sellita SW330-2 automatic movement with 25 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a 56-hour power reserve. Other practical details include a quick-set date window at 3 o’clock, a 20 mm lug width, and 100 m (328 ft) of water resistance. A top hat, it turns out, does not prevent swimming.

The watch also arrives in packaging shaped like Snoopy’s kennel, so his familiar flying machine has not been omitted completely. It has simply been reassigned to box duty.

Only 50 examples of the Bamford London x Harrods Snoopy Edition will be made. It is available exclusively through Harrods for £1,900, or about US$2,565. The last time we checked, it had not flown off the shelves. I guess depicting Snoopy in a top hat instead of atop his kennel wearing flying goggles helped.
