Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2: Compact Camera For Live Studio Production

Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2

How times have changed? Media in the past was a business that involved heavy investments. But thanks to open platforms like YouTube, Twitch, and more, and affordable professional studio cameras, anyone can aspire to be Ted Turner and have his or her studio. Speaking of studio cameras, at last year’s IBC 2023 in Amsterdam, Blackmagic Design revealed the new Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2, the next-generation model of its popular 4K camera designed for studio production.

Now, if you are not in the field of studio broadcasting, you’d think that a studio camera is an enormous cannon-like camera on casters. Well, it is not. It has shrunk significantly to as small as a regular digital camera. The Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 in particular has a body that measures a mere 2.74 inches deep, 3.3 inches across, and 2.6 inches tall (6.96 cm by 8.38 cm x 6.6 cm).

The Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 features a 4K digital film sensor with 13 stops of dynamic range, dual native ISO for low light performance, 12G-SDI for high-resolution output, and a new USB-C port for Blackmagic RAW recording and network control.

Designed for live production with a small, rugged body, it’s compatible with MFT lenses and offers various connectivity and power options, including HDMI, 12G-SDI, and LP-E6 battery support.

Ideal for professional use in tight spaces, the camera maintains the original’s compact design while enhancing functionality for cinematic images in live production.

If anyone is interested, the Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 is available now for US$995 from Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide.
