To celebrate the release of the most anticipated movie of 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine, Japanese watchmaker Citizen launched two new character-inspired timepieces last month, namely, Wolverine and Here Comes Deadpool. And yes, that is the name of the Deadpool version of the watch.
Wolverine Edition
The Wolverine watch captures the essence of Logan with a blue dial featuring fully luminous retractable claws. A yellow outer ring, silver-tone markers, and luminous hands, all set within a 43 mm black ion-plated stainless steel case, make it a striking piece.
The X-Men logo at the 12 o’clock mark and the “SNIKT!” sound etched on the case back add to its fierce appeal. Powered by Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology, it runs on light, so no battery is needed.
Here Comes Deadpool Edition
The Here Comes Deadpool watch features Deadpool’s masked face upside down on the black textured dial. The red dial ring, adorned with “Merc With a Mouth,” lights up along with the hands, markers, and Deadpool’s eyes.
The 42 mm black ion-plated stainless steel case and black leather strap with red topstitching match Deadpool’s signature colors. An engraving of Deadpool in a reclining pose on the case back adds a touch of his trademark irreverence.
Like Wolverine’s watch, it’s powered by Eco-Drive, ensuring it never needs a battery and both are powered by light.
They do not come cheap, though. The Wolverine Edition commands a cool US$425 and the Deadpool version sells for US$350. Don’t ask me why the main star of the show isn’t more expensive. I guess it is probably a bad joke played by Deadpool on Logan.
