You may be wondering the same thing as me: when was the CMF Phone 2 by Nothing announced? How did you miss it? Well, no, you did not get caught in a time warp. There is no CMF Phone 2, yet. The Pro jumped the line. The CMF Phone 2 Pro was announced in April and officially released on May 5.
Where the first CMF Phone was a mid-ranger that flirted with entry-level pricing, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is a definitive mid-ranger by specs. For starters, it benefits from a 4 nm MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro chip, backed by 8 GB of memory and 128 or 256 GB of storage, which is expandable, if so desired, up to 2 TB via microSD card (not supplied, of course). There’s no mention of the RAM or storage type, though.
The SoC rocks an octa-core processor with clock speeds up to 2.5 GHz. It inherits its predecessor’s modular design, with a highlight being a detachable back cover featuring an accessory mount for customization—such as adding a magnetic wallet, a lanyard, a lens kit, or the like. Despite having a removable back cover, the dust and water resistance gets a bump from the OG’s IP52 to IP54. And oh, it also manages to be thinner, at 7.8 mm versus the OG’s 8.2 mm. It’s just 185g light.
The CMF Phone 2 Pro also boasts a new feature: Essential Key and Essential Space. The latter lets you save content and thoughts in one single place when you press the physical Essential Key located on the side of the phone.
The device has a 120 Hz 6.77” flexible AMOLED display with an impressive 3,000 nits peak brightness, shielded by Panda Glass. It’s a 10-bit display rocking FHD+ resolution (2,392 by 1,084 pixels), 1.07 billion colors, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. The display also houses a 16 MP front-facing camera.
Meanwhile, the main imaging setup features a 50 MP main camera with EIS and AF, a 50 MP telephoto camera with EIS offering 2x optical zoom and up to 20x digital zoom, and an 8 MP 119.5° ultra-wide camera.
It’s outfitted with a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 33 W fast charging and 5 W reverse wired charging. There’s no wireless charging, for obvious reasons.
Other notables include dual SIM support, nano SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, 2.4/5G dual-band, MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and the usual suspects of positioning and sensors. It runs on Nothing OS 3.2, powered by Android 15, with the addition of the Essential Space feature. The camera touts 22 algorithms and presets that cover imaging science and personal styles.
The CMF by Nothing Phone 2 Pro Smartphone is available now, starting at US$279.
