Robot vacuum may be called a robot, but it has no legs, and hence, its domain remains on the level where it is placed. But that changes with the MIGO Ascender Stair-climbing Robot Vacuum. That was in 2024. Fast forward to 2026, Dreame, a major player in the robot vacuum space, is pitching a similar concept, dubbed Dreame Cyber X.
However, Cyber X is not just any stair-climbing robot vacuum—well, not that there are many. Billed as the world’s first Bionic QuadTrack stair-climbing robot vacuum, this robot vacuum has tracks for mobility that can transform, in the most tech-creepy way possible, into “legs” that would allow it to climb the stairs. TBH, this little thing looks more like military hardware than an actual vacuum.
First previewed at last year’s IFA, the company demoed the stair-conquering robot vacuum at the recent CES 2026, where visitors got to see it in action.
The Cyber X has a set of “legs” with rubber treads instead of the usual wheels. This allows it to scale stairs. It is worth noting that Dreame has explored vacuum cleaners that climb small steps. However, the Cyber X is a breakthrough for the brand as it can climb up and down an entire flight of stairs, curved staircases included, relatively quickly.
It can climb stairs up to 25 cm (9.8 inches) high and tackle slopes with up to a 42-degree inclination. Now, you probably imagine it uses those legs to yank itself up step by step, right? Nope. Thanks to the long tank treads, it simply rolls up the stairs on the steps nosing like it is on a flat surface. Very cool idea, I must say.
Unfortunately, this also means it can scale the stairs but not clean them. But at least it will have other floors covered.
Another interesting thing is that Cyber X is not an entirely new thing. It is actually built on a regular robot vacuum. Or to be more precise, it is more of a mothership for Dreame robot vacuums. I said “mothership” because it not only transports the robot vacuum to another floor, but this big guy has a built-in water tank to support the mopping feature. And, yes, beyond its military hardware appearance is a dock of sorts for a Dreame Robot Vacuum.
In addition, it has its own laser-powered navigation system to help it move up the stairs and avoid obstacles. It, of course, can brake too, so it will not roll down the stairs, even if the battery goes flat mid-travel.
The Dreame Cyber X Stair-climbing Robot Vacuum is still at its concept stage. There’s no indication when it will go on sale—if it even will make it to production.
