GEEKOM A8 AI Mini PC With AMD Hawkpoint Ryzen 8040 Processor

If you are in the market for a sleek-looking Mini PC powered by AMD Ryzen chip, then you may want to check out the newly launched GEEKOM A8. The GEEKOM A8 is billed as the next-generation AI mini PC with AMD Hawkpoint Ryzen 8040 processor. Oh, right. In case you haven’t heard. AI has found its way to the Mini PC.

The GEEKOM A8 features a metal housing with rounded corners in an anodized matte finish, and it is offered in a choice of Ryzen 7 8845HS and Ryzen 9 8945HS. Both chips feature 8 Zen 4 CPU cores, 16 threads, 16MB L3 cache, an AMD Radeon 780M integrated GPU as well as a Ryzen AI Engine NPU. But obviously, the Ryzen 9 is the higher performing of the two.

In the AI department, the new GEEKOM A8 boasts an enhanced NPU capable of 60% more AI workloads than the previous models, affording it quick text-to-image/video conversions, note summarization, call transcription, and faster AI-powered photo and video editing.

More power means more heat but fret not this little big guy is rocking the new IceBlast 1.5 cooling technology that will enable the A8 to keep its cool and remain stable even when loaded with tasks.

The A8 may be a Mini PC but it’s not lacking in connectivity which includes four USB-A (three USB3.2 Gen2), two HDMI2.0, a 40Gbps USB4, a multi-function Type-C, an SDXC slot, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. With this many I/Os, you can choose to connect to an eGPU, ultra high-speed storage, and up to four 4K displays. This thing is quite a beast, really.

Other spec sheet details include AMD Radeon Graphics Card 780M, dual channel DDR5 5600MT/s memory up to 64 GB, M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4 x 4 SSD up to 2 TB, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

If anyone’s down in getting one, the GEEKOM A8 AI Mini PC with AMD Hawkpoint Ryzen 8040 processor is available in a choice of R7-8845HS and R9-8945HS starting at US$749 and US$899, respectively.
