Giant LEGO Gromit Just Contributed £22K To Bristol Children’s Hospital

Giant LEGO Gromit Sculpture

Bristol, UK-based charity organization The Grand Appeal has teamed up with the folks over at LEGO to create this giant version of Gromit, Wallace’s pet dog and best friend, from the British clay animation series Wallace & Gromit. The enormous Gromit sculpture, called Cracking Build Gromit!, was designed by LEGO and hand built by expert LEGO Model Builders. All told, this human height LEGO Gromit was the result of 30,456 LEGO bricks and 120 hours of build.

The sculpture was created in support of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity in the UK. It was on display with 66 other sculptures in Bristol, UK, up until September 2, 2018. Cracking Build Gromit! was recently auctioned off at a charity auction, bringing in a cool £22,000 (around US$28,660) for the Bristol Children’s Hospital in the UK.
