Swatch Adds Snowflakes to the Moon: Mission to Earthphase Moonshine Gold Gets Weird—in a Good Way

Omega x Swatch Mission to Earthphase Moonshine Gold watch with Moonshine Gold hands and snowflake-engraved moonphase indicator

Winter has a funny way of making people romantic about things: snowflakes, hot drinks, questionable fashion choices. Swatch, meanwhile, looked at the calendar, then looked at the moon, and decided December was the perfect time to release something wonderfully excessive: the OMEGA x Swatch Mission to Earthphase – Moonshine Gold Cold Moon, a watch that quite literally treats snowflakes as a design feature. Not metaphorically. Literally.

Earlier this month, Swatch released this MoonSwatch to coincide with the Cold Moon, then proceeded to do something quietly unhinged in the best way possible. Each watch gets its own unique snowflake laser-engraved onto the moon phase indicator, meaning no two are the same. Yes, even Swatch is now telling you that your watch is special. Scientifically special. Snowflake-special.

The watch keeps the familiar Earthphase layout, complete with Swatch’s earth phase complication and a moon phase disc coated in OMEGA’s Moonshine Gold. That moon disc sits against a sparkly dark blue background, which feels appropriate when your theme is winter nights and cold skies. The Earth phase adds a subtle cosmic flex, showing our planet floating against a star-speckled backdrop, with oceans revealed under UV light. There is even a secret UV detail, which feels like Swatch is reminding everyone that fun is still allowed in watchmaking.

Visually, the Cold Moon edition swaps warmth for frost. The white Bioceramic case, bezel, crown, and pushers echo snow-covered landscapes, while the white VELCRO strap keeps things practical and unmistakably MoonSwatch. Snoopy also returns at 9 o’clock, now dressed for winter, just in case the snowflake uniqueness was not whimsical enough already.

Specs remain sensible and familiar. You get a 42.00 mm case, 13.75 mm thickness, and a lug-to-lug measurement of 47.30 mm. Inside is a quartz chronograph movement with moon phase and earth phase indicators, paired with 3 bar water resistance. It is not a dive watch. It is a winter watch with opinions.

Availability adds another layer of Swatch chaos. The Mission to Earthphase – Moonshine Gold Cold Moon is sold globally from December 4, 2025, through March 20, 2026. After launch day, however, it will only be available when snow is falling in Switzerland. Yes, weather-based retail is now a thing. Even countries that have never seen snow get to wait and hope.

The OMEGA x Swatch Mission to Earthphase – Moonshine Gold Cold Moon is priced at US$450.
