Porsche Pays Homage To The Past With Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition

Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition

Targa top is synonymous to Porsche and so it is only right that a Targa joins the new Porsche 911 generation. So here it is, the new all-wheel drive 911 Targa 4 and Targa 4S. They are pretty, but that’s not what caught our eyes.

The one that caught out eyes is this: Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition. It is still the Porsche 911 Targa announced a couple of weeks ago, but with livery and touches that evoke the Targa of the older days.

Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition features an exclusive paintwork in Cherry Metallic, gold logos, a historical design motorsport livery in white, Porsche Heritage badge on the luggage compartment grille, and 1963 Porsche Crest on the hood, steering wheel, wheel centers and vehicle key.

It further touts a two-tone leather interior, corduroy trims, classic green-illuminated RPM counter and stopwatch, perforated roofline in microfiber fabric and Exclusive Manufaktur leather, historical motif embossed on the head restrains and key pouch, and 20/21-inch Carrera Exclusive Design wheels and classic-look brake calipers finished in black. Rounding up the heritage touch is a metal badge on the dash, indicating its limited edition number.

Beyond that, it is very much the 911 Targa 4S you have read about. Meaning it is powered by a high-tech 443 horsepower 3L twin-turbocharged six-cylinder boxer engine, mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that propels it from naught to 100 (0-62 mph) in just 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 304 km/h (189 mph). There’s, of course, the intelligent all-wheel drive Porsche Traction Management.

The 2020 Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition is available to order now and it will be hit the dealerships starting Autumn 2020. Only 992 examples will be built and so, those who want one, may want to act it now.

But it does come with a premium sticker. While the 2020 Porsche 911 Targa 4 and Targa 4S starts at US$119,300 and US$135,200, the Heritage Design Edition commands at least US$180,600.

Whether or not the 40+ grand extra is worth your dollars is yours to judge.
