Pringles looked at the humble hot dog and decided the bun had been loafing on the job. Its solution was the Pringles Pop Dog Bun, a 7.5-inch (19 cm) potato-based bun flavored like the crisps usually crushed beside it—or stuffed inside it by people who believe texture is everything.
The limited-edition buns came in three flavors: Sour Cream & Onion, BBQ, and Honey Mustard. Each one was soft, flavored from end to end, and packaged inside a Pringles can. Yes, Pringles put bread in the chip tube. That’s right. The crisps have been evicted.
The buns were designed to hold a regular hot dog, although nothing stopped anyone from placing Pringles inside, too. At that point, you would have a potato-flavored bun containing potato crisps wrapped around a sausage. It is the culinary equivalent of opening a folder only to find the same folder inside.
Now for the stale news: Pringles offered the Pop Dog Buns through two limited drops on July 8 and July 15, 2026. They were free with a US$6.97 Pringles three-pack while supplies lasted.
Since today is August 2, both drops have passed. We arrived late to the cookout, and somebody ate the buns. Our bad, but hey, at least we aren’t sending readers chasing a bun that has already left the building.
