RedMagic 11S Pro Series Packs an Overclocked Snapdragon Chip and Steam Support

Redmagic 11S Pro Series Smartphones

Pardon me for almost missing the Redmagic 11S Pro Series because the model names sound and read far too much like the Redmagic 11 Pro series—which also has a Pro+ model and a regular Pro. Seriously, how is that not confusing? I had to do a double-take to make sure they were actually new phones. Making matters murkier, the international version of the Redmagic 11S Pro appears to have liquid cooling as standard. I swear writing about Chinese phones is the hardest.

So yes, Redmagic has recently welcomed two new gaming phones, the Redmagic 11S Pro and the Redmagic 11S Pro+. So what are the upgrades compared to the 11 Pro and 11 Pro+? Well, the biggest upgrade is the chipset, which is now the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Leading Version. This SoC is essentially a higher-clocked version of the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, with clock speeds reaching up to 4.74 GHz.

It is also paired with LPDDR5T memory and UFS 4.1 Pro storage. The maximum transfer rate of the memory in the new 11S phones is 10.67 Gbps per pin across the lineup, whereas only select memory configurations of the 11 Pro series received that speed. The Qualcomm chip is paired with Redmagic’s RedCore R4 gaming chip and a Synaptics touch controller that boasts an astonishing 3,000 Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. Combined with the MagicTouch 4.0 touch algorithm, the setup promises ultra-fast response. In addition, the new 11S Pro+ supports a direct connection to Steam.

The cooling department is where things get confusing. As mentioned earlier, the international version of the 11S Pro appears to feature liquid cooling as standard, but over in China, that does not seem to be the case.

The Chinese-market 11S Pro features an upgraded Qufeng 4.0 active cooling fan with a redesigned blade structure that spins faster than before. Meanwhile, the 11S Pro+ benefits from a dual-cooling setup featuring the same Qufeng 4.0 active cooling fan, spinning at up to 24,000 RPM, alongside RedMagic’s second-generation pulsating liquid-cooling engine.

The active fan boasts an all-new blade design with insanely thin 0.1 mm blades, while the cooling module itself carries an IPX8 rating for water resistance. As before, the system employs a pass-through air duct with a fluid-dynamics-optimized design. The active cooling setup is claimed to reduce core temperatures by as much as 6°C (10.8°F) while operating at under 30 dB.

The liquid-cooling engine introduces a new curved-flow liquid channel that RedMagic says improves circulation efficiency by 10%. It also uses AI server-grade fluorinated liquid that is resistant to low temperatures, non-conductive, and more stable than conventional cooling fluids. The entire system is designed to be both drop-resistant and leak-resistant thanks to a polymer cushioning structure.

Actively circulating the liquid is a ceramic micro-pump with an ultra-low power draw of just 8 mW. It is also remarkably thin, measuring only 0.85 mm. Completing the thermal package is a 4D Ice-Step vapor chamber featuring a dual-sided raised structure design, along with RedMagic’s Liquid Metal 3.0 thermal interface material to further improve heat dissipation without the risk of leakage.

The battery situation does not appear to have changed. The 11S Pro shares the same 8,000 mAh battery as the 11 Pro, along with 80 W wired fast charging. Likewise, the RedMagic 11S Pro+ carries over the same 7,500 mAh battery as its non-S counterpart, complete with 120 W wired fast charging and 80 W wireless fast charging.

The rest of the specifications remain largely unchanged. There is the same 144 Hz 6.85-inch 1.5K BOE X10 flat display with small-radius corners. The display also continues to utilize RedMagic’s eighth-generation under-display camera technology, dubbed UDC Full Screen 2.0, paired with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

For imaging, there is a 50 MP dual-main-camera setup with OIS, consisting of a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. Other notable features include IPX8 water resistance, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual stereo speakers, a 4D haptic engine, Wi-Fi 7, a 5G gaming antenna system, NFC, and a suite of AI-powered features.

The Redmagic 11S Pro and 11S Pro+ have been launched in China with starting prices of 5,499 yuan [CH] (about US$813) and 6,199 yuan [CH] (about US$917), respectively. The Redmagic 11S Pro has also been announced for the international market with a starting price of US$799.
