Well, what do you know? Roborock was at CES 2026, too, and it also offered its take on a stair-climbing robot vacuum. However, Roborock’s take on stair-climbing is exactly what the Dreame Cyber X isn’t. It is less complex for sure, and it does take things one step at a time.
Dubbed Roborock Saros Rover, it is the world’s first wheel-leg robovac and uses those wheel-equipped legs to climb each step. First, it lifts its body, turning itself into bipedal mode and sliding onto a step. After which, it retracts its legs back. It will not continue to scale the rest of the steps yet because it has some sucking to do.
That’s right. Roborock Saros Rover not only wants to get to the next level of your home, but it will clean up the steps as it goes.
Interestingly, the “legs” work independently. This means it can lower a leg to keep itself from toppling off a step as it goes about vacuuming. It, of course, can go down the stairs as well as slopes, too. Thanks to this biped design, it can also execute small jumps, pull off agile turns, make sudden stops, and directional changes, all while maintaining a level body even as the ground below it changes.
At the heart of Roborock Saros Rover are artificial intelligence algorithms that work with complex motion sensors and 3D spatial information to understand the environment and make the wheel-legs react accordingly and with precision. In addition to regular stairs, it can tackle curved stairs, carpeted stairs with bullnose fronts, and slopes, too.
Details are sparse at this point, but Roborock said it is a real product in development with a yet-to-be-confirmed launch date.
