Seiko Prospex LX Line Ltd Ed Is A Dive Watch Inspired By Skarvsnes Foreland In Antarctica

Seiko Prospex LX Line Limited Edition Dive Watch

Unless you are an avid underwater enthusiast or have taken a dive in the waters of Skarvsnes Foreland in Antarctica, you will not quite relate to the pattern of the dial face on the new Seiko Prospex LX Line dive watch.

Joining Seiko’s LX Line dive watches, Skarvsnes Foreland is where the Seiko Prospex LX Line Limited Edition Dive Watch (SNR045) drew its inspiration from.

Skarvsnes Foreland is located around 55 kilometers from Showa station, a Japanese research station in Antarctica. It is there that the Japanese researchers discovered an underwater “forest” made up of moss and algae in one of the lakes.

The obvious relation would be the emerald green of the ceramic bezel, which is nod to the moss pillars and also the color of the water when viewed from the land. Meanwhile, the pattern on the green dial recalls the said moss pillars.

Key features of the watch include Seiko Caliber 5R65 automatic, hybrid with Spring Drive, 30 jewels, regulated by quartz with self-winding capacity, 72-hour power reserve, 44.8 mm brushed and polished high-density titanium case, unidirectional titanium bezel with green ceramic insert, sapphire crystal with anti-reflection coating, screwed case back, screw-down crown, applied indexes and hands filled with Lumibrite, and 300-meter (984 feet) water resistance.

The Seiko Prospex LX Line Limited Edition Dive Watch has a limited run of just 500 pieces and it will go on sale in August 2020, priced at 630,000 yen (about US$5,886).
