Sharp has recently revealed its first smart countertop microwave ovens that boasts WiFi connectivity and Alexa compatibility. The Sharp Smart Carousel Countertop Microwave Oven is offered in two sizes: a 1.1 cu.ft. (SMC1139FS) and 1.4 cu.ft. (SMC1449FS).
With Alexa, you can use your voice to start or stop the microwave oven, add time to the current cooking cycle, or cook at a specific power level. Unfortunately, you will still have to place and remove the food manually. Damn it. Where’s Sonny when it need him???
Jokes aside, Alexa compatibility will make making a meal a lot easier. How so? Well, for example, you can just say, ‘Alexa, defrost 2 lbs. of meat,’ and Alexa will automatically kick start the defrosting process with appropriate time and power settings. No more looking up the Internet for an answer. Now, that’s what I call convenience!
Moreover, available on the SMC1449FS, you can discover more preset cooking items for foods that do not appear on the control panel. Popcorn lovers will also appreciate what the new Sharp Smart Carousel Countertop Microwave Oven has to offer.
Both models are also specially tuned to achieve optimal popping results from Orville Redenbacher’s Microwave Popcorn. All you need to do is to touch the “Popcorn” button to choose the serving size, or use Amazon Echo device or the Alexa app and say “Alexa, Microwave Classic Popcorn.”
A few other notables include One-Touch controls, Express Cook, Carousel turntable system, a brushed stainless steel construction, extra-large white LED display and automatic setting of clock (when connected to WiFi).
Sharp Smart Carousel Countertop Microwave Oven is listed as “coming soon” on shop.sharpusa.com, with the SMC1139FS retailing for US$149.99 and the SMC1449FS for US$169.99.
