Perhaps not being able to see the actual air quality metrics—or the myriad bits of information a fake pet can read at a glance without reaching for a phone—is not for you. If so, SwitchBot may have just the thing. Unlike Birdie Pro, which lets a tiny bird do the talking, the SwitchBot Weather Station puts the numbers front and center, alongside a whole lot of other information.
The Weather Station is a 7.5-inch E-Ink display that wants to be the information hub of your home. Mounted on a wall or propped up on a desk, it serves up weather forecasts, indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity readings, air quality information, sunrise and sunset times, and other daily essentials on a paper-like display that does not scream for attention like a tablet.
The weather features are only part of the story. The Weather Station also doubles as a family calendar, syncing with Google Calendar, iCloud, and Outlook. It supports up to five calendars and can display up to 30 events per person each day. Whether it is work meetings, school activities, appointments, or reminders that somebody forgot to take out the trash, everything is visible at a glance.
Users invested in the SwitchBot ecosystem can take things further by connecting up to three environmental sensors to monitor temperature, humidity, and CO₂ levels around the home. Historical data is stored in the SwitchBot app, while two programmable buttons on the device can trigger smart home routines such as turning on lights, closing curtains, or activating preset scenes.
There are also six display themes to choose from, including Calendar, Daily Overview, Countdown, Environmental Data, Daily Verse, and Custom Text. Power comes from a built-in 5,000 mAh battery rated for up to a year of use between charges, though USB-C power is available for permanent installations.
The SwitchBot Weather Station is available now for US$109.99. It may not collapse dramatically when your indoor air gets stale, but it does provide a lot more information than a tiny wooden bird can.
