This one almost slips us by. Back in April, TAG Heuer brought a super cool version of the Monaco to Watches & Wonders 2026 that celebrates the brand’s relationship with chronographs. Called the TAG Heuer Monaco Evergraph, it is not merely another special Monaco with a fancy dial or exotic material. Under that familiar square case lies what TAG Heuer describes as a complete rethink of the chronograph mechanism itself.
The star of the show is the new Calibre TH80-00 movement. Developed over five years by TAG Heuer LAB together with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, it replaces much of the traditional chronograph’s maze of levers and springs with two flexible bistable components. One handles the start-stop function, while the other takes care of reset duties.
If that sounds like watchmaker sorcery, it kind of is.
The result is a chronograph that delivers the same feel and precision whether you are pressing the pusher for the first time or the ten-thousandth. TAG Heuer says the system is more durable, more reliable, and more consistent than conventional chronograph architectures.
The movement itself is equally impressive. The TH80-00 beats at 5 Hz, carries COSC certification, offers 70 hours of power reserve, and uses a TH-Carbonspring oscillator for improved resistance against magnetic fields.
Outside, the Monaco remains unmistakably Monaco. The 40 mm Grade 5 titanium case retains the signature left-side crown first seen on the original Monaco from 1969. A transparent dial reveals much of the movement underneath, while the redesigned case improves comfort without losing the sharp, architectural character that made the Monaco famous.
Two versions are available. One comes in natural titanium with blue accents as a nod to the legendary Monaco 1133B associated with Steve McQueen. The other goes full stealth mode with black DLC-coated titanium and red accents inspired by TAG Heuer’s racing DNA.
The TAG Heuer Monaco Evergraph is available in Titanium and Titanium coated with black DLC, with a price tag of US$28,500.
