Volkswagen ID. AERO Concept Car, VW’s First Fully-electric Sedan, Unveiled

Volkswagen ID. AERO Concept Car

A few days after giving the public a design sneak at its first fully electric sedan, the ID. Aero, Volkswagen has revealed the vehicle in its entirety. The Volkswagen ID. AERO Concept Car is the sixth member of the ID. family following the models ID.3. ID.4, ID.5, ID.6, and ID. Buzz.

Speaking of the ID. family… can take a moment to take notice that between “ID.” and the number, it has no space while “ID.” and a word, such as Buzz and AERO, do have a space? Nothing much. Just an observation. Actually, I am irked because it is not consistence. Ugh. I try not to think about it.

Anyhoo, the ID. AERO (and yeah, and all CAPS for this. Why?! VW? Why???) will be the ID. family flagship and the fully electric four-door production model will be offered worldwide in the future in the premium mid-size segment.

The production version for China is expected to go on sale in the second half of 2023. EU series will go into production in the same year in Emden.

The Volkswagen ID. AERO Concept Car is built on VW’s modular electric drive matrix (MEB) and its flowing lines, the sloping roof resembling coupe styling affords it a drag coefficient of 0.23 Cd.

It will be equipped with a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery which VW expects ID. AERO to achieve up to 620 kilometers (385 miles) (WLTP). Beyond that, there is not a lot to learn. Unless you think 22-inch wheels and IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights matter. Skip ahead for the reveal video.
