The Closest Shave to Space You’ll Ever Get: Yoose RX-78-2 Gundam Edition

Yoose RX-78-2 Gundam Electric Shaver

Shaver maker Yoose has had a few collabs, including with Nintendo’s Pokémon and classic fairytale Le Petit Prince. But I think the latest could be the most sincere collab creation yet. The newest to join Yoose’s growing lineup of cobranded shavers is none other than the RX-78-2 Gundam.

This Gundam cobranded shaver isn’t just another Yoose slapped with the iconic mecha’s image. The entire exterior—right down to the cover and the included carrying case—has been given the full Gundam treatment. It features a blue-and-white colorway, and panel lines can be found all over the shaver, including on the exclusive power button. And that’s not all. The shaver is decorated with markings and graphics you’d typically find on the mobile suit itself.

Rounding out this alluring, compact, cobranded facial hair remover is a 3D model of the RX-78-2’s head and its iconic backpack unit. Oh, and the cover of the shaver is printed with the E.F.S.F. branding and logo, too. The packaging includes a pink cleaning brush with a white handle, also known as the Beam Saber, and a travel case styled after the RXM-Sh-008/S-01025 Shield.

As far as performance goes, the Yoose RX-78-2 Gundam Shaver boasts a high-speed magnetic levitation linear motor that spins at up to 14,000 RPM, and it further features a super-large 14 cm² shaving surface.

The Yoose RX-78-2 Gundam Shaver has launched in China with a suggested retail price of 1,099 yuan (about US$153)—but as always, that’s before discount. After the requisite discount, it’s just 699 yuan [CH], which works out to around 97 American dollars. I don’t believe it will be available outside of China due to licensing matters.
